Vance, an Ohio State alumnus, later addressed the moment with humor on social media, stating, “I didn’t want anyone after Ohio State to get the trophy so I decided to break it”.

During the ceremony, President Trump praised the team’s achievement and Vance’s academic accomplishments, noting his rapid graduation from Ohio State and subsequent education at Yale Law School.
